We have a great opportunity!

As a society, we are currently facing a potential crisis. However, there is a possible solution emerging at the same time. If we get it right, we could avert a perfect storm and create a great opportunity.   One of the biggest issues we are dealing with is that women leave corporate leadership positions at twice the rate they enter them. This trend has only become more pronounced post-COVID-19. It's not hard to see why - women are tired of the microaggressions, the forced choice between work and family, and the discriminatory treatment they receive.   But here's the silver lining: we have more women entering higher education and graduating from college than ever before. These women are the future of our workforce. This is a unique moment in time when we can harness the talents of women and create a workplace that is supportive of women and values their contributions. By doing so, we can promote a new generation of well-educated and well-prepared women to take up the mantle of those who are opting out - women who have made their contributions and led change.   However, this version of the future is dependent on women's success within academia. The female professoriate and administrative leaders are the linchpin that connects the present to the future. It's up to all of us to ensure that they have the resources and support they need to succeed. Together, we can create a brighter future for everyone.
