Challenges of Women Leaders
The publication features eight women leaders' responses to "What are the biggest challenges you faced as a female leader?"
The answers all revolve around "image" and "expectations." They report that they either didn't look the part or were expected to be nurturing but not too nurturing. Essentially they were dealing with the stereotypes of women and struggling with how to manage these expectations.
This is not to say that they did not have institutional challenges, as they no doubt did, but one is left to wonder how much of their emotional and mental energies were diverted to these matters and the cost of these challenges.
